If you follow the more underground and rising hipster scene of New York City then you more than likely have heard the mixing style of DJ Quiz. With a little over 20 years of experience the South Bronx native, like many of his fellow Heavy Hitter brothers and sisters, has made his impact on the culture in a unique way.
Born Danet Samreth, this south Bronx native started honing his DJ skills at the age of twelve after his brother bought him equipment; but ironically it wasn’t until he saw the Ernest R. Dickerson 1992 film, Juice that he realized what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
Then in 2007 Quiz began to see his dreams unfold into reality. During this year he received the opportunity to intern at Hip Hop’s most iconic radio station, Hot 97; maneuvering his way from the promotions department into a growing video department. Quiz took the opportunity to help out Hot 97's newest personality, Peter Rosenberg.
The following year after seeing an “Intern Need” post on MYSPACE by DJ Enuff, Quiz quickly jumped at the opportunity to work for the Heavy Hitter president. During the second day of working with Enuff, Quiz created the concept for Enuff’s lifestyle music website That's Enuff, adding the title of blogger to his long list of credentials. After a year of mentoring under Enuff and watching his interview style, Quiz launched his own digital segment entitled “Quiz Knows” (a name given to him by fellow Heavy Hitter DJ C-Lo). Interviewing the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Yelawolf, Stalley, Schoolboy Q, Ace Hood and many more Quiz’s YouTube segment made it’s way on every major Hip Hop digital outlet at the time (Nah Right, 2DopeBoyz, Rap Radar to name a few).
During this time Quiz was also very involved in the NY underground music scene as he would DJ at ever showcase in New York City, including Vitamin Water’s Uncapped series. Through the showcase Quiz was introduced to a number of up and coming artist leading him to land gigs as their NYC resident DJ for shows, events and BET’s 106 & Parks’ Backroom Freestyle.
Since then Quiz has worked with an array of artists, touring with Bay artist Locksmith, followed by Bishop Nehru for a year. In 2012 Quiz was introduced to the then rising Bay artist G-Eazy, and upon hearing his music Quiz invited G-Eazy to stop by Hot 97. Two years later Quiz became the official road DJ for G-Eazy. Quiz is currently on tour with G-Eazy for the When Its Dark Out tour.
